Xiaomi doubles the Redmi 2 to 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage with the Enhanced Edition

Xiaomi isn't called China's Apple for nothing. Just like the Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus get by on 1GB of RAM, the new Xiaomi Redmi 2 also has 1GB of RAM inside. Well, at least it did. While Xiaomi engineers believed that the handset was just fine with 1GB of the sweet stuff inside, Xiaomi gave in to complaining customers and not only doubled the amount of RAM in the phone to 2GB, it also doubled the native storage from 8GB to 16GB.

There is speculation that the version of the Redmi 2 with the 2GB of RAM will be known as the Enhanced Edition. Priced at the equivalent of $128 USD, it is expected to go on sale during Xiaomi Spring Festival which takes part from February 13th through February 25th, before the Chinese New Year

The rest of the phone's specs will remain the same including the 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280. That works out to a pixel density of 312ppi. A 64-bit quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 CPU is under the hood with the Adreno 306 GPU handling graphics. 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage is aboard after the change. A 64GB capacity microSD slot is available for those seeking more memory. Back and front-facing cameras weigh in at 8MP and 2MP respectively, and a 2200mAh battery powers the handset. Android 4.4.4 is pre-installed with MIUI 6 on top.

Kudos to Xiaomi for listening to their customers, and so quickly too. Doing something like this really makes consumers feel like they have a voice and a say in the things they buy.

Galaxy S6 Edge multi-core Geekbench score crushes everything, including the iPad Air 2

The Galaxy S6 Edge keeps on leaking like a rusty faucet. After its ultra low SAR radiation ratings that popped up on Samsung's website by mistake yesterday, and its user manuals, today the handset, codenamed SM-925, appeared with all of its specs on AnTuTu for the umpteenth time.

Well, if you didn't believe that 60, 000+ score it got on the AnTuTu benchmark, perhaps this next leak will convince you that we might be looking at the most powerful handset on the market when the S6 lands. Its octa-core Exynos 7420 chipset managed to crush it with 1,492 points in the single-core, and 5,077 points in the multi-core test. 

To put things in perspective, this multi-core result is way higher than any other mobile device at the moment, including the iPad Air 2, the reigning champ, which scores 4,532. 

The single-core performance gives way only to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, or the Google Nexus 9 tablet with its industrial strength Tegra K1 processor, but for phone purposes - well, it is very unlikely that the S6 will meet a task it can't crunch for the foreseeable future with these scores. Let's see if it will be strong enough to power TouchWiz without hiccups, though Samsung is rumored to go with a complete overhaul of the interface part, too.
